Research Track
The Research Track is open to novel research contributions on the topics detailed in the ICPE 2027 Call for Contributions . Papers submitted to this track will be reviewed for novelty, relevance, technical quality, scientific soundness, and clarity by at least three members of the Research Track Program Committee.
The track distinguishes two paper types:
- Regular Research Papers describing original research content with a compelling evaluation.
- Empirical / Experience / Reproduction / Case Study (EERCS) Papers focusing on empirical evaluation, real-life experiences, reproductions, or case studies. These papers may describe new experiences with, and/or insights from, the application of existing approaches or methodologies. Both positive and negative reproduction studies are welcome.

The ICPE 2027 Research Track will employ a double-anonymous review process. Submissions must not reveal author identities. Authors’ names must be omitted from the submission; references to authors’ prior work should be written in the third person; any associated code or repository must be anonymized and must not reveal the authors’ identities; and all communication with the program committee must go through the program committee chairs.
Prior public release on open forums such as arXiv, invited talks, or workshops without formal proceedings is permitted, provided that authors follow the double-anonymous submission instructions.
Submissions to the Research Track are made via HotCRP and must be in the standard ACM double-column format for conference proceedings. Research Track papers must not exceed 10 pages, including all figures and tables, but not including references and appendices. Appendices will not be published in the conference proceedings, so submissions should be self-contained, with appendices only including supplementary material.
The camera-ready version of accepted papers may use up to 2 additional pages to remove anonymization and address reviewer or shepherding comments, but may not add significant non-reviewed content.
To promote research reproducibility and facilitate the reuse and validation of published results, authors of accepted Research Track papers are strongly encouraged to submit their research artifacts to the conference Artifact Evaluation Track . Artifacts will undergo a dedicated evaluation process, and accepted artifacts may receive one or more ACM artifact badges in accordance with the ACM Artifact Review and Badging policy .
